Rainbow Programme Facilitators Wanted

Rainbows provides group support programmes for children and young people who have experienced a bereavement or the separation of their parents.

The programme offers listening support in groups for children and young people of a similar age and loss. The programmes are delivered by trained facilitators over a ten-week period for an hour each week.

The Rainbows programmes help and support children/young people to positively adapt and adjust to significant change and loss in their lives.

Children and young people can find it very helpful to meet others in a similar situation to themselves.

This service is a free service.

We are currently seeking to recruit volunteer Facilitators to train and join the Rainbows team in St Michael’s Family Centre where the programme has been provided for 25 years. Each successful applicant will be required to attend a four-day training event. Dates for this online training are:

Saturday and Sunday May 8th and 9th and May 22nd and 23rd. These are full days.

Application forms are available from  centrestmichaels@gmail.com . Please email or call 087 3902661/0719170329 for further information.

January update

Due to level 5 restrictions and the high rate of Covid infections, services at St Michael’s have been impacted once again.

Please note that the office staff will be on site on Monday and Tuesday until 1.30 working behind closed doors. Phone calls to the landline will only be answered during that time.

Alternatively, please contact us on 087 3902661 or by email at centrestmichaels@gmail.com

Referrals for counselling continue to be taken but sessions will be by phone only for at least the next 2 weeks. At that stage we will review the situation taking into account the safety of staff and members of the public

Play therapy services will resume face-to-face as soon as it is deemed safe for all involved.

Update to Services

St Michael’s Family Centre is opened as an essential service. However there are some restrictions in office hours to allow for staff to work from home where possible.
Counselling service has moved to phone counselling where possible but face to face can be facilitated in emergencies. Referrals are being taken by phone 071 9170329 or 087 3902661 or you can email your details to centrestmichaels@gmail.com. A counsellor will contact you promptly. Please leave a message on our landline or send a text to the mobile number.
Given the continuing Covid situation it is unlikely that the propose date of January for the new Rainbow programme will be possible. A final decision on this will be taken by end of November.
